THE STORY For over 40 years, Chicago has celebrated St. Patrick's Day by dying the river a gorgeous shade of green to emulate the Emerald Isle. Even though the river remains a murky green color for pretty much the rest of the year, it’s the best St. Paddy’s tradition anywhere in the world.
